Fairfield police released the identity of a man killed in a shooting Wednesday night and also released the names of two men who were detained following his death.

The victim was identified as Aaron Malave, 19, of Fairfield.

Malave was transported to NorthBay Medical Center by a man and a juvenile female, according to police, and both are considered witnesses to the homicide.

At approximately 11:09 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to NorthBay Medical Center regarding a gunshot victim who had come into the hospital, according to a press release from Lt. Stephen Crane published Thursday morning.

Officers arrived and found Malave, who was only identified as a 19-year-old man on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Approximately eight minutes before Malave was brought into the hospital, Fairfield dispatchers received reports of gunshots heard in the area of the 1000 block of Wood Hollow Circle, police said on Friday.

Officers responded to the area and found evidence that police said is connected to the homicide.

Based on that evidence, police believe Malave was shot in the street in the 1000 block of Wood Hollow Circle.

Detectives authored and executed a search warrant at a residence on that block.

Police then contacted six adults and one juvenile who were associated with that residence.

Police identified two of those adults, Blake Johnson, 24, and Michael Behnamnia, 20, who were both detained.

Johnson has prior contacts with law enforcement and is currently on probation for carrying a concealed firearm. He was involved in a drug deal in March 2012 that resulted in a double homicide in Parkway Gardens, police said.

Johnson, then 21, was later released by Fairfield police after the Solano County District Attorney's Office determined he was not responsible for the shooting deaths of Vedell J. Chew and Bernard Knight at the Fairfield condominium complex.

Behnamnia also has recent contacts with law enforcement. In January 2014, Behnamnia was involved in a gun fight on Capistrano Court in Cordelia, according to police. He and a 15-year-old Fairfield resident were accused of robbing a 16-year-old Fairfield resident after arranging to buy marijuana from him.

Behnamnia was convicted of a felony and sentenced to three years' probation, police said.

Although Johnson and Behnamnia were detained by police, no arrests have been made in connection to Malave's death.

A vigil will be held for Malave at 4 p.m. today at Laurel Creek Park in Fairfield, according to Fairfield City Councilwoman Catherine Moy.

The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
