Kristin Marie Brown, 37, of Denver, Colorado passed away of natural causes peacefully in her sleep on October 9, 2015 in her own home. Kristin was born on October 24, 1977 at Rose Hospital in Denver to Karen and Larry Hone. As a young girl she was actively involved in Starstruck Dance Company and discovered Mathematics as her passion at an early age in her junior high school math class. She was an outstanding student who excelled at Cherry Creek High School graduating in 1996. She then graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2000, where she majored in Mathematics and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Kristin received her Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Colorado in Denver in 2006. She brought her firm grasp and love of math into a career in teaching. First at Overland High School and then at Kent Denver School from 2005 to 2015. She was named Department Chair in 2014, a post she held until her death. Kristin was beloved by her co-workers, students and parents. She was respected within the independent school community both in Denver and beyond. Her achievements and understanding of mathematics enabled students who might have felt incapable to obtain success and self-esteem reach these goals. As a college advisor, she assisted many juniors and seniors in their search of the right college. Kristin was a devoted mother and wife. She leaves behind her two sons, Trevor Shaw Brown III (born March 4, 2009) and Luke Andrew Brown (born May 29, 2011), her husband Trevor Brown Jr., her parents Karen and Larry Hone, brother Jason and wife Keri, the Brown family, Margaret and Trevor Brown, Chris and Meghan Brown and her nieces and nephew whom she loved as though they were her own, Carson and Makena Hone, Addie, Gigi and Emmy Brown.
Kristin's true joy was her two children. Her spirit will endure through the people she touched most deeply with her kindness and compassion. Kristin was a mathematician with a heart.
We will celebrate Kristin at a Memorial Service on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Denver. Following the service there will be a reception at 3:15pm at Kent Denver School.

And, In honor of Kristin Brown, Kent Denver School will be collecting non-perishable food items for Denver Urban Ministries food pantry which serves families throughout the Denver Metro area.
