A 50-year-old Burton native died in a Nov. 8 fire at Clovertree Apartments in Flint Township.

Michael Burkley, Flint Township assistant fire chief, said the victim was Gerald Rolfe Jr. Firefighters responded around 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 to the apartment complex off West Court Street for the blaze.

Rolfe was taken to Hurley Medical Center after the fire and died a short time later.

He served in the U.S. Army, enjoyed sports and spending time with family and friends, according to Rolfe's obituary.

Burkley said the cause of the fire was not determined and their investigation into the matter has been closed.
