The woman killed in a fire in Fayetteville early Wednesday morning has been identified by her family and authorities.

Police officers responded to a fire in Fayetteville around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after firefighters discovered a woman's body after extinguishing a fire at 3522 Gazella Circle in the Lone Pine Mobile Home Park off Blanton Road.

Firefighters removed the female victim from the mobile home and quickly started CPR. Cape Fear Valley EMS arrived on the scene and attempted "advanced life-saving measures" but the woman died from her injuries.

Family members and police say the woman who died in the fire was 36-year-old Audrey Pernell.

"We came outside and were knocking on her doors and windows trying to see if we could get her to wake up and come to the door," said neighbor Kendra Banks, who called 911 earlier. "We got the door open a little bit, but as soon as you opened it a bunch of smoke came out."

"They did CPR to try to get her back and she never came back," Banks added.

Officers say that at this point they don't believe the fire is suspicious.

" The preliminary investigation has revealed no signs of foul play at this time," police said in a press release just before 2:30 p.m.
