Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for a high school senior who died in a sledding accident over the weekend.

The accident happened about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The Ohio Highway Patrol says Ethan Pauley, who was 18 and a student at Wheelersburg High School, died in the accident at the intersection of Center Street and Gallia Pike Road.

Pauley was on a sled that was being pulled by an ATV when he was hit by a pickup truck that ran a red light, according to Sgt. J.R. Howard of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, then fled the scene, according to investigators. They say he was found a short time later at a nearby residence. Howard says that he told investigators, he felt something, but kept driving.

Troopers say the driver was questioned and took a drug test. They will wait on the results of those tests to determine if charges will be filed.

The Highway Patrol says the operator of the ATV pulling the sled was 17-year-old. There is no word if he could face charges or be cited.
