A 28-year-old Westland woman has died three days after an accident on I-94 near Metro Parkway in Harrison Township, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said today.

Jessica Ann Hays died Monday at McLaren Macomb Hospital.

She was driving a Dodge Avenger eastbound on I-94 about 3:50 a.m. Saturday when she lost control, causing the car to hit the retaining wall. Her car became disabled and was in the road when it was struck by a minivan driven by a 52-year-old Chesterfield Township woman, according to the sheriff's office.

When deputies arrived, the van driver was outside her vehicle, alert and talking. She flagged down other drivers for help. The other driver was lying in the roadway unconscious, according to a sheriff's office release Saturday.

The Chesterfield Township woman was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where she was treated and released. There were no passengers in either vehicle, the sheriff's office said. It said the investigation is continuing and toxicology results are pending.
