Two men who were fatally shot in separate shootings Friday night have been identified.

Dejuan Williams, 37, Indianapolis, was killed in the first shooting, which happened shortly before 5:30 p.m., near East Michigan Street and North Sherman Drive.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 700 block of North Grant Avenue on a report of a person shot. When police arrived, they found Williams dead inside a home. He had been shot at least once, and detectives believe he likely knew his assailants, an IMPD news release said.

A few hours later, IMPD responded to the 3200 block of North Gladstone Avenue after dispatch received a call of shots fired in the area. Once on Gladstone, near the intersection of East 32nd Street, officers saw 18-year-old Tyren Whitley, Indianapolis, lying in the street. He had been shot in the back, police said.

Whitley was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in either shooting.
