A Gaffney man's body was recovered Sunday near Goat Island on Lake Murray, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the body of a boater reported missing since Saturday as Jonathan Scott Scruggs, 26, of Gaffney. Scruggs' body was found shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday.
Scruggs was wearing a life jacket which was still on his body when he was recovered, according to Fisher. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department continue to investigate the boating accident.
