One man died and another was injured in a single-vehicle wreck in rural DeWitt County early Friday morning.
Henry Henkes, 31, of Cuero, was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup south on Old Goliad Road, four miles south of Cuero, a short time after 1 a.m., said Anthony Flores, San Antonio Department of Public Safety trooper.
The truck left the road and Henkes overcorrected.
The truck rolled, Henkes and his passenger, Austin Smalley, 23, of Inez, were ejected. Henkes was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed, Flores said.
Smalley, who was wearing a seatbelt, was injured and transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro in Victoria. He was listed in stable condition Friday evening.
A person at CDM Resource Management, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners, confirmed Henkes worked for the company.
Flores said the wreck remained under investigation.
