The cause of death for Alicia Storti, 21, the South Kingstown woman who disappeared early on April 15 and whose body was found Thursday, was released Monday by the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's office.

Cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, said Joseph Wendelken, a spokesman for the R.I. Department of Health.

He said his office would not release the manner of death. Manner of death is how the death occurred, such as natural causes, accident, suicide or homicide. He did say that foul play was not involved.

Alicia was the middle child of Peter and Elizabeth Storti, who own the Avery-Storti Funeral Home and Crematory on Columbia Street in Wakefield. Calling hours were held there Sunday, with the burial "strictly private," according to her obituary.
She was apparently buried Monday.

South Kingstown police on April 17 had asked for the public's help in locating the young Wakefield woman, and a Facebook page, Missing Alicia, was created by a missing persons website and a family member. The family organized volunteers to search for her but did not make any public statements.

South Kingstown police, with the help of the Rhode Island State Police and Narragansett police and search and rescue teams, searched in South Kingstown and Narragansett. The family lives on a road where the houses are widely spaced and vast acres of woods stretch out behind them.

On Friday, South Kingstown police released a statement saying the body had been found Thursday "in a wooded area close to home." The news release said foul play was not suspected and that the investigation was ongoing.

The statement thanked those who helped with the investigation and searches and said the department would not release any further details.

Alicia Storti was an honors student and a 2013 graduate of the Prout School. She had been voted most artistic by her classmates. She attended Emmanuel College in Boston.
