Actress Susan Sarandon's younger brother, Terry Tomalin, died Thursday at the age of 55 after suffering a heart attack.

Tomalin was a world traveler who wrote off his adventures as an outdoors editor for the Tampa Bay Times.

The Florida resident was attending a life guarding class with his son at an aquatic center in St. Petersburg, Fla. when he collapsed and failed to regain consciousness, the Florida newspaper reported.

Tomalin was one of Sarandon's eight siblings in her large Irish-American family, which was raised in Edison, N.J.
