Aubree Victoria Schmid, a beautifully vibrant, true, tree hugging soul ended her battle with cancer on March 25, 2016 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 20 years old.

James and Kim welcomed Aubree into this world on July 8, 1995, where she was surrounded by generations of love until the day she left. This gentle care and safekeeping molded her into the genuine, happy, free spirit that we all came to know and love. A portion of this care was provided by close family friends and neighbors Wayne and Marge Bechard who babysat Aubree for the first five years of her life. She was blessed to be with such a kind and caring couple that loved her like one of their own. As a youth Aubree enjoyed taking dance lessons and performing. Later, as a varsity cheerleader she was able to fuse together her love of hip hop, dance and showmanship. Her talent and passion were evident whenever the squad choreographed and performed stunts and dance routines. Aubree's radiant smile and love of performing was fun to watch. Aubree loved the outdoors and excelled in her high school agricultural classes. She served as an officer in the Stockton Future Farmers of America chapter and enjoyed her classwork and competitions. During her high school career, she competed on the Forestry, Landscape/Design and Floriculture teams. In the fall of 2013 Aubree continued her studies at Missouri State University. Her passion for nature led her to major in Wildlife Conservation and Management with a minor in Biology and Sustainability. Aubree was named to the Dean's List in the fall of 2015. She pledged Delta Zeta Epsilon Nu sorority in the fall of 2013 where she embraced her family away from home. The times she spent participating in Fraternity Sorority Life activities, especially Greek Jam, were some of her most cherished moments. Aubree enjoyed the outdoors and was a hard worker. She spent several seasons during high school working at Rovenstine's Greenhouse caring for plants and greeting customers with her cheerful smile. Once college began, Aubree spent her summers at Stockton State Park as a Naturalist creating presentations about the surrounding habitat for visitors. Her mission was to teach others to be stewards of the land. One of her favorite tasks as a conservationist was working in the field looking for specific species of flora and fauna. Aubree came by her adventuresome spirit honestly. Kim and James made travel a priority. Over the course of her life they visited many state and national parks, doing everything from spending time in the Everglades where Kim put Aubree within striking distance of a crocodile to zip lining in over the rainforest in Costa Rica for Aub's 18th birthday celebration. With an attitude of "adventure is everywhere" Aubree never shirked from an opportunity to have a new experience. She was comfortable stepping out on her own: taking part in yoga in Park Central Square and attending workshops at the Nature Center in Springfield. Aubree is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Vic and Jeanette Schmid and by her maternal grandfather James Booth. She is survived by her mother and father of the home, Brother and sister-in-law Shane and Marci May of Utah; sister Jamie Schmid of Nebraska; her grandmother Carol Booth of Morrisville, godmother Marcia Lee of Stockton and many other family members as well as countless friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Stockton High School gymnasium. James and Kim are establishing a scholarship in Aubree's name. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Stockton School District.
