A heartbreaking evening in downtown Parkersburg Friday night, as a man drowns in the Little Kanwha River near Point Park.


The Parkersburg Fire Department says 19 year old Cody McConnell died from an accidental drowning Friday night.

Hs body was found shortly after 11:30PM and an autopsy was performed from the Wood County Coroner's office. Then he was taken to Camden Clark.

McConnell, a Parkersburg resident, was swimming with his friends when he reportedly began to struggle and eventually didn't come up for air.

Officials do not believe foul play was a cause.
