Two teenagers have been arrested in connection to the murder of a Mercer County teenager.


According to the Harrodsburg Herald, Zachary Lay, 18, and Meagan Sims, 18, were both arrested on Friday night. Both teenagers are charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Lay and Sims' charges stem from the April 13th murder of Tristan Cole, 17. Cole was a junior at Mercer County High School.

According to an arrest citation, Lay "assisted in the sell of a firearm related to a murder investigation." The citation also says Lay helped conceal the weapon used to commit the murder.

Sims is also accused of helping sell the firearm used in the murder.

Lay and Sims were arrested at the Mercer County Sheriff's Office on Friday. Both have been booked into the Boyle County Detention Center.

State police say Tristan's body was found around 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 13th off Deep Creek Road, west of Harrodsburg in rural Mercer County. Police say he had been shot and left at the scene. He was pronounced dead by the Mercer County Coroner.
