Yvette Marie Brooks (Scott), 48, passed away at Providence Hospital on June 30, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on Jan. 7, 1968, in New Orleans, La., to Chester and Jolanda Scott Sr. She attended McDonough 35 High School in New Orleans and worked at Tulane University. She move to Anchorage, Alaska, 17 years ago, and worked at Home Instead and also worked at Hearts of Hands as a caregiver. She is preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, Virginia and Jordan Scott and Alex J. Robertson Jr. She leaves behind her husband, Mark Brooks Sr.; daughter, Marquita Brooks; two sons, Mark Brooks Jr. and Marquel Brooks; one granddaughter, Kahealani Brooks; and also Sky Steward, whom she took in at an early age; her mother, Jolanda Scott; one sister, Briana Scott; five brothers, Chester, Bryant, Kevin, Anthony and Jerry Scott; grandmother, Delores Robertson; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. A homegoing Celebration will be held on July 9, 2016, at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, 629 Hollywood Dr. in Anchorage, at 12 p.m. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
