A 39-year-old man has died in an early morning shooting near Oaklawn in southeast Sedgwick County.

Officers were called to a home on 4200 block of Wildflower, near K-15 and 47th St. South, just after 4 a.m. Friday. Lt. Lin Dehning with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said there were several people in the home.

"People that were in the house reported that they heard a noise and then they heard gunshots and a victim was found inside the residence with at least one gunshot wound," he said.
The victim was shot in the abdomen and died at the scene. He was identified Troy E. Philbrick.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Detectives and crime scene investigators continue to piece together what led up to the incident. Dehning said of the four people inside the house, none of them saw the shooting happen.

"Any time there is a shooting like this, it is something that is dangerous. However, this appears to be a targeted incident," Lt. Dehning said.

Are neighbors worried?

"No more so than usual," said area resident Richard Hain. "So if someone were to knock on my door at four AM there would be a gun in my hand if I answered the door."

"But we've lived here since '84, '83 or '84, somewhere around there, and we've never had any trouble," said Sue Hood who lives down the street from the shooting scene. "This is the first time. You know it's kind of scary. 'Cause you don't know what happened. If they caught the guy yet or not."
