Danny Ashtiani, age 17, departed this life on May 30, 2016 at the Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. He is survived by parents Nader Ashtiani and Anahita King, step-father Doug King, sister Hasti Raveau, brother-in-law Brian Raveau, and step-sister Andrea King.
Danny was born on January 17th, 1999, in Tehran, Iran. When he was two-and-a-half years old, his family moved to Birmingham, Michigan. Danny was a junior at Troy High School and a well-rounded athlete. He participated in wrestling and lacrosse for the Troy Colts, played hockey for the Royal Oak Hockey Club and achieved a brown belt in Shotokan karate. Danny was loved by his teammates and described as "lively and determined." To his friends he was "extraordinary" and full of "potential".
Outside of sports, Danny was known for his creativity and laughter. He was an amazing photographer, painter and poet. Danny's earlier paintings were selected to be displayed at Somerset Mall and his poetry was published in the compilation A Celebration of Poets. Danny loved to eat at Hunter House and Buffalo Wild Wings and his favorite song was Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin.
The family requests that live plants be sent in lieu of flowers.

A funeral service will be held at
Troy Assembly of God,
3200 Livernois Rd,
Troy, MI 48083
on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at 2pm
A time of gathering from 1 pm until 2 pm will be held at the church.
Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery.
