The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has identified a woman found dead in College Grove Monday night.

Investigators said Britney Rose Cole, 21, was the victim of a homicide.

Cole's body was found near an entrance to a field off Cross Keys Road. Officials released a sketch of the victim earlier this week.

Investigators said Cole, from Tullahoma, was found with a fatal gunshot wound.

Authorities have charged Thomas Bruner with criminal homicide in Cole's murder. He was arrested in Lebanon Thursday night is being held on $1 million bond.

Cole's family told investigators Bruner was the last person seen with Cole before she died.

Bruner, from Lebanon, grew up in the area where Cole's body was found.

"He was previously from Williamson County in a community close by and would know the area and knew it was pretty vacated," said Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Long.

Long said Cole and Bruner had been living together in Smith County, but they had only known each other for a few months.

The sheriff would not say if investigators had recovered the murder weapon.

Investigators are still trying to determine what led up to Cole's death. Anyone with information is asked to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND or Officer Jonathan Couey at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office at 615-790-5554. Anonymous tips can also be left with Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000.
