It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved Alex lost his battle with substance abuse on August 29, 2016.

Alex was one of a kind with a brilliant mind and he was truly gifted with his talents and abilities. We began to understand his potential when, at eight years old, he was assembling an airplane in the front yard that he intended to fly to Smith's. Alex had all the parts assembled and truly believed he could do it so he was disappointed when his dad wouldn't lend him the lawnmower engine to power his plane. He was as innovative as he was kind and he had many inventions over the years. Alex earned his Eagle Scout by rebuilding computers and donating them to a local youth program.

Alex made friends with people from all walks of life and he shared whatever he had with whoever was in need. He was a gentle soul with a laid-back attitude and a quick wit. His great sense of humor was ever-present and helped us all through some of his most difficult challenges.

Alex is survived by: his grandmother Ethel; his parents Cindy and Stephen; his siblings Zack, TJ, and MacKenzie; his beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his best furry friend Salem. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on September 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universal Church of Ogden.
