Hannah Jo Manthey of Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, after a long struggle with depression. She was 28 years old.

Hannah was born in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Frank and Diane Manthey. She graduated in 2011 from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She loved to play many instruments, including the flute, the piano, the guitar, and the harp. During this time Hannah was also diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and worked tirelessly on her own mental health, reaching out to friends and family and engaging with mental health professionals regularly. Hannah carried her perceptive, quirky sense of humor throughout her darkest times and modeled a way to be enduringly human while suffering in a way that no other person could understand. She impacted the lives of everyone she came into contact with to through her vulnerability, transparency, and sense of humor.

Hannah was able to take her love of music as well as her desire to help other people with mental illness into volunteer work at nursing homes. More recently, Hannah worked as an Activities Assistant in the Memory Care Unit at Ecumen Evergreens Assisted Living Facility. Music and helping others were always a part of how she operated in the world, and she will be dearly missed.

Hannah is survived by her parents, Frank and Diane Manthey, her sister Katie Manthey, and her brothers Karl and Dominic Manthey, as well as large network of extended family and friends.

The prayer service will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 23rd with a visitation beginning at 6:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A funeral will be held Monday, October 24th at 2pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior.
