Some of you may have known that Abz had missing for several days and that we were concerned and got the police involved to help us look for her. And yesterday one of the most beautiful people I've ever known and my best friend, took her own life.
I feel at loss for words describing what she meant to me and impact she had on my own life. She was more than a best friend to me. She was someone who I looked up to. Someone who pushed me to be the best most ambitious version of myself. Someone who would always get coffee with me, no matter how many things she had going on in her own life. Someone who I grew up in college with and knew me inside and out. Someone who I had infinite plans to change the world with.
While I'll never be able to understand why she decided to leave this world, I know that the impact she made here will never be forgotten. She was truly one of most loving, selfless and driven people I have ever known. Everyone and everything she came in contact with was changed for the better, and her innate ability to make everyone around her instantly comfortable and included was one of the things I loved most about her. Her free, kind spirit and deep desire to make the world a better place, are two things which drove all of the amazing things she did in her short life. From volunteering in countless countries, to leading some of the best organizations on our campus, to inspiring so many people to live their life to fullest.
Abz Zeitler, you were my best friend and one of the most amazing humans I have ever loved. Missed is not a strong enough word for how I feel about you leaving us too soon. I love you forever and I will continue to carry your spirit and passion for helping others with me for the rest of my life.
We are in the process of planning a celebration of Abz's life for next weekend. So for those of you who knew and loved Abz, I will keep you updated when plans are finalized. Thank you all for your support you've given her family and close friends during this difficult time.
