A 24-year-old man suffered an apparent fatal beating in Westfield on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers and medics found Corey A. Zimmer about 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 17200 block of Gunther Boulevard, in a housing addition southeast of Westfield and Carey roads, Westfield Police Capt. Charles E. Hollowell said.

Zimmer, who lives in Westfield, appeared to have been the victim of an attack. He died a short time later, Hollowell said.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the Hamilton County Coroner's Office are assisting the investigation.
