A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man to death in the Blue Mountains yesterday.

Henry Walcott was arrested after police were called to a house on Kings Road, Leura where they discovered the body of a 34-year-old man.

Walcott was taken for questioning to Katoomba Police Station and later charged with murder.

"It will be alleged that the man used a knife to inflict fatal wounds to the neck and chest area of the victim," Superintendent Darryl Jobson said.

Today, Walcott fidgeted during a brief appearance via video link in the Penrith Local Court.

His lawyer chose not to apply for bail.

The brief of evidence is set to be served next month, before Walcott returns to court in January.
