The kayaker whose body was found in the water Sunday at West Branch State Park has been identified as Luke Collins, 20, of Medina.
Collins reportedly went under the water Saturday evening.
According to the Portage County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at about 6 p.m. Collins was kayaking with a friend at the time.
Collins and his friend were in separate kayaks. His friend 's kayak took in water, and he began to struggle.
Collins threw his life jacket and a rope into the water, and his friend was able to make it to safety. Collins then began having trouble himself and drifted away in the water.
Crews suspended search efforts overnight. They found Collins at just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
His friend had been taken to the hospital, treated and released.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
