Margaret Heaton Monson
November 22, 1974 – January 1, 2017

Margaret Heaton Monson was born on November 22, 1974, in Kanab, Utah, to Leonard P. Heaton and Yvonne Workman Heaton. She was the youngest of 7 children, with 5 sisters and 1 brother.

She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1992, where she played on the high school basketball & volleyball teams; their teams won multiple championships. She loved high school, had so many friends, and loved playing sports! She graduated valedictorian and earned her associate's degree in Travel & Tourism. Margaret served an LDS mission to the England Leeds Mission from 1995 through 1997. She also went on many adventures with her cousin Patrice to China, Ireland, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Mt. Rushmore, New England, and parts of Canada, to name a few.

After being great friends for over 10 years, Margaret married the love of her life, Andrew Edwin Monson, on April 19, 2008, in the St. George LDS Temple. Margaret loved the many adventures they went on together, reading books, playing card games, spending as much time as possible with family and friends, and knitting countless Christmas stockings for her family & friends, especially for new babies that just joined the family.

On the morning of January 1, 2017, after battling Breast Cancer for the third time, Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Monson, and sons Kayson Aleksander Monson (age 7), Andrew Peyton Monson (age 3), and niece Delilah Edna Morris (age 12), Leonard P. Heaton (Father), her brother Duke Heaton (Angela), her sisters, Jolene Hurst (George), Julie Fonbuena (Charles), Kim Nuttall (Nick), Kathleen (Kent), Juanita Morris, and the many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Workman Heaton, her father-in-law L. Douglas Monson, and her brothers-in-law Nick Nuttall and Lowell Douglas Monson II, and sister-in-law, Angela Marie Monson Heaton (Robert).

There will be a viewing on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 6-8 pm in the Provo Utah Freedom Stake Center, 888 South Freedom Blvd., Provo Utah. There will also be a short viewing from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017. The funeral will follow this viewing from 11am - 12pm. A brief graveside dedication will be held at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N 800 E, Orem, UT.

Because Margaret loved helping people so much, the family suggests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the LDS Church Humanitarian Aid Fund.
