David Hutto faces murder charges in the death of Post Falls man, Bo Kirk. Kirk disappeared on Oct. 22. His body was found Oct. 25 in the Hayden Creek area of the Coeur d'Alene National Forest.
In a newly unsealed court testimony, Hutto admitted to investigators he was there when Kirk was killed.
When asked if an acquaintance of his had been involved in the murder, he said no.
"In response, I asked Mr. Hutto how he knew this information. And he replied, 'Because I was there," said Sgt. Ken Lallatin, an investigator.
Prosecutors last week argued Hutto, 44, followed victim Kirk after a road rage incident and kidnapped him, before shooting and killing him.
Hutto, the main suspect in the homicide case of Bo Kirk, made his first appearance in court on Oct. 31.
Prosecutors said Hutto eventually bound and shot Kirk and argued the killing appears to be random.
"Mr. Kirk was followed home after the defendant was enraged by something Mr. Kirk did," argued prosecutors at the Oct. 31 hearing. "The defendant took measures to hide what happened. He purchased gasoline, burned Mr. Kirk's car."
A second suspect was arrested in connection with the case, however, the prosecuting attorney asked a judge to seal the testimony detailing reasonable grounds for holding Hutto for murder out of concern for the second suspect's family.
