Omaha Police are looking for whoever gunned down an Omaha man over the Easter weekend.

Twenty-nine-year-old Trent Stutheit was shot to death near 26th and Hamilton Street Sunday night around 8 o'clock.

Stutheit was outside of Pilgrim Heights senior citizen apartment complex when he was shot. His death will change the life of many people.

One of those people whose life will change is his daughter Anella. Stutheit and Manda Schulte were raising Anella together.

"It means Anella's going to grow up without her dad," Schulte said. "She's two and a half years old and at what point do you tell her she's never going to see her dad again and she's not going to understand life and death and all that. She was just with him. She knows who her dad is. She's just spent the who entire weekend, last week with him and Thursday and Friday this week."

Schulte said Stutheit was a good man and he loved his daughter. Schulte said Stutheit was out with a friend Sunday night but doesn't know why they were in the 26th and Hamilton neighborhood. And she's miffed as to why anyone would take his life.


"But why were they there around 26th and Hamilton…running from someone with a gun? I have no idea," she said. "I don't understand what would possess someone to shoot someone."

"It's absolutely ridiculous," she said. "Like there's nothing he could have done or anything someone could have done for you to take a life." The people that kill people don't realize who they're affecting. Oh yeah, so let me shoot him. So he's out of my hair right now. Well, he has a child and he has friends and a family and now his 2 and a half year old daughter has to grow up without a father now."

Schulte said Anella likes to sing and dance and like any other child, she likes to have fun. Now, she will have to find a way to do those things without a dad.

"She loves her daddy so much," Schulte said. "There's not a way I can tell her that she's never going to see her again. It breaks my heart to know she's not going to grow up with him. She's always going to wonder why. Why did my daddy leave me? Why cant I see him anymore?"
