Obituary for Carmen Renee Bass
Funeral services for Carmen Reneè Bass, 50 of the Dotson Community of Panola County, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Windham and Rev. Kevin Windham officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ms. Bass passed away peacefully May 13, 2017 at her home in Dotson.
Carmen Reneè Bass was born August 27, 1966 in Carthage, Texas to M.D. "Jock" and Muriel Brevard Bass. At the age of five, Carmen lost her mother and she was raised by her sister, Hazel, in Shelbyville. She attended Shelbyville High School graduating with the class of 1984. She then proudly served her country in the U.S. Army. After her honorable discharge, Carmen worked many years for Texas Eastman Chemical Plant in Lake Port. Afterwards, she worked as a dispatcher for the oil field and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Shelby County. She enjoyed cooking for the Old Spanish Trail Ride and taking care of her seven dogs and cats, but mostly she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews who were like her own children. She lived life to the fullest and was loved by a host of family and friends. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronnie Bass; nephew, Michael Risinger and nieces, Dana Bass and Melissa McCary.
Carmen Reneè is survived by her loving spouse, Beth Bass of Dotson, sisters, Hazel Risinger of Patroon and Judy Foster and husband Dick of Beckville, brother, Danny Bass and wife Brenda of Patroon, nieces and nephews, LaDonna Robinson, Rhonda Williams, Greg Risinger, Brad Bass, and Chad Bass; niece, Jessica Williams, great nephew, Jordan Williams, and cousin, DeJuana Risinger.
