VIRGINIA BEACH - Devon C. Tarbox, 32, of Virginia Beach, passed away June 3 after a year-long battle with colon cancer. She was born February 13, 1985 in Bronxville, NY. Devon was a graduate of Jamestown High School in Williamsburg and earned her Bachelor's Degree from ODU. She is survived by her husband, Michael Tarbox; parents, Lester and Barbara Catharine of Williamsburg; sister, Erin Catharine (Daniel Durant); sister, Breanne Harris (Andrew); mother-in law, Joanne Tarbox; brother-in-law, Christopher Tarbox (Brittany Lee); her nephew and niece, Henry Harris and Emma Tarbox; and her "boys," dogs Corona and Whiskey. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Jeanne Catharine; and her maternal grandparents, George and Therese Harsch. Devon led an active life and was always surrounded by friends and loved ones. She loved the beach, enjoyed gardening and perfecting her home for her and Mike to enjoy. She loved horses and adored her dogs, inspiring her to support local charities that shared her love of animals. Devon touched countless lives with her optimism and beautiful smile. She was a caring, selfless person whose goal was to help others. After her diagnosis, she became an advocate for colon cancer awareness to promote the importance of listening to your body. If her experience helps save even one life, her goal will be fulfilled. Receiving hours will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 3445 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456, on June 8 from 5-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held June 9 at 11 a.m. at the same location.
