Police have recovered the body of an Australian man who had been missing since Thursday afternoon after his canoe capsized in Georgian Bay near the Grotto, east of Tobermory.

Bruce Peninsula OPP identified the man Monday evening as Bennett Zeller, 22, of Queensland, Australia. He was found at about 5 p.m., police said in a news release.

Zeller had been missing since police received a report of a capsized canoe at 2:48 p.m. Thursday. Another passenger in the canoe, a 26-year-old man from Windsor, Ont., swam to shore. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for hypothermia and released.

Efforts to find Zeller were extensive and involved the Bruce Peninsula OPP, Bruce Peninsula OPP Marine Unit, Bruce Peninsula National Park wardens, the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation Service Helicopter, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, Tobermory Coast Guard, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton and ORNGE Air Ambulance.

The police investigation is complete, foul play is not suspected.
