A 20-year-old motorcyclist from Hendersonville died at the scene of an accident on Briley Parkway.
The victim in the Saturday morning accident that occurred in the eastbound lanes of Briley Parkway between Dickerson and Brick Church pikes is identified as John Robert Sanders of Hendersonville, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. They also report that reckless driving on his part is a primary contributing factor to the crash.
A preliminary investigation shows Sanders, who was riding his 2017 Suziki Ninja, traveled in between two vehicles, passing them, before merging in the left lane. He allegedly then made gestures to the vehicle now behind him while braking quickly on and off, according to witnesses.
Even though the driver of the vehicle behind him reportedly tried to create a safe distance between them, Sanders again is said to have applied his brakes, causing the vehicle to hit the bike's back tire. He lost control and was hit by a tractor trailer.
No one else was injured in the accident.
Drugs nor alcohol are thought to be involved.
