A woman has died after being shot in Alpine on Memorial Day.

According to the Talladega County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call on Loblolly Trace in Alpine around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, officers found 32-year-old Jennifer Abrams had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to UAB Hospital.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Abrams was pronounced dead at UAB after being removed from life support.

The sheriff's office is investigating the shooting.
