Juneau police have identified the person found dead in a hot tub there Monday as a woman missing since mid-August.

Police spokeswoman Erann Kalwara said in an updated missing person alert that Alexis Ehlers's body was discovered by a homeowner in an outdoor hot tub behind a residence on Muir Street.

The family of the 28-year-old woman has been told about her death, Kalwara said.

The police department said earlier this week that a death investigation was underway following the discovery of a body inside a covered hot tub.

Police determined Ehlers and the homeowner have no connection.

Ehlers was reported missing on Aug. 13. Police said she was distraught over personal issues and walked away from a minor vehicle collision that same day.

The investigation is continuing, and complete autopsy results could take four to six weeks, Kalwara said.

However, "preliminary findings in the death investigation do not indicate foul play," she said.
