Bullet holes one by one spread across the front of an apartment in the middle of the Windy Pines complex off 103rd Street, just above a push-along child's toy car, two coolers and a chair.
They end with blood stains from Henry Ernesto Martinez, a 29-year-old father who recently moved to Jacksonville with his girlfriend and 1-year-old son, then died outside his doorstep just after midnight from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
To rap music fans, he was known as Ya Boy H, starring in music videos like "In The Air" and "Wassup" from his 2016 release, "Bands Goin Up," and another about his childhood called "Hometown." But a woman said she saw Martinez die after someone fired some 20 shots, right after he set fast food down on that spindly wooden chair at his door in the complex at 6650 103rd St.
"The bullets sprayed all the way across the front," she said. "… I was asleep and heard about six gunshots. I must have heard the end of them. Then I woke up and I saw him [gunman] over the guy, still shooting, emptying out his pockets, digging for whatever."
She said she called police, but "by the time they got there, I saw him take his last breath. That was it."
Another neighbor said he was watching TV when he heard shots, thinking it was early Fourth of July fireworks until police and paramedics rolled up.
"We knew somebody got shot," the man said. "That's crazy. He's got a little child."
