Sergeant Alan D. Mays March 20, 1961 - January 22, 2018 Army Veteran of Clearlake passed away peacefully on January 22 following a lengthy illness at the San Francisco Veterans Medical Center. During his years of service he was stationed in Germany, Korea and Kuwait. His last tour was in Desert Storm as a front line mechanic. After returning stateside he was a civil service Military Hummer Mechanic. However, the time served in Desert Storm caused the development of PTSD and the loss of the use of his legs. That didn't stop him with gardening, fishing and being an avid 49er fan. He was a great artist and dreamed of being a cartoonist. Previous to his military service, he was a cook. He was the son of the late Ronald Mays Sr and Dora Mays. He is survived by brother, Ronald Mays Jr. (Charlotte) of Maryland; sister, Sharyn Raney (Chuck) of Clearlake; nieces, Jaime Gray and Krystal Raney; nephew, Christopher Mays; great-nieces, Angel Edmonds and Natalia Andrews; great-great- niece and nephew, Avery and Jaron Edmonds Jr.; and stepmother, Sharon Mays of Oklahoma. He will be greatly missed. Sign Alan's guest book at www.legacy.com
