Battle Creek Police Department is looking into a possible shooting of 22-year-old Joseph Bowser of Battle Creek that took place between 9 p.m. last night and 8 a.m. this morning, according to Det. Sgt. Todd Elliott of BCPD.


Elliott confirms BCPD received a call at 8:12 a.m. reporting a body found in the yard of 85 Stringham at the River Apartments in between the woods and the complex. A second call followed seconds later reporting the body, being the last call in regards to the incident. BCPD confirms they did not receive a call of shots fired last night, therefore widening the window of when the possible homicide took place.

The man is not a resident of River Apartments, but was reportedly visiting a friend or relative. Police officials believe this was a targeted incident and are currently tracking down leads.
