Long time Anchorage, Alaska, resident LaShonda Parker, 44, died on March 4, 2018, peacefully in her sleep at home.
A service will be held at Center of Hope Church of God in Christ, 300 Klevin Street in Anchorage, on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 12 p.m.
Ms. Parker, affectionately called "Shonda," was born on July 5, 1973, in Selma, Ala., to the proud parents of Louis and Mattie Parker, both residents of Anchorage.
She attended high school in Tacoma, Wash., and later received a CNA Certificate from Southcentral Foundation.
Shonda moved with her family to Alaska in 1985, however she has lived in Selma, Ala., Oakland, Calif., and Tacoma, Wash., but she called beautiful Alaska home.
She was employed by Midnight Sun Care and Heavenly Home Care for over 20 years, which attributes to the love she had for people, especially the elderly. She was a very generous, compassionate and caring person with a loving heart. She had an unforgettable smile that would brighten up anyone's day.
Shonda is survived by two loving daughters, Keoshia Parker and Courvoicier Dawson both of Alaska; mother, Mattie Parker; father, Louis Parker; her sisters, Monica Hunter (Eric) of Virginia, Pamela Cameron of Alaska, Tara Celestine of Washington, and Celestine Williams of North Carolina; two brothers, Terry Parker and Lorenzo Carter both of Alaska; nieces, Meoshia Parker of Alaska, Demetrice Cameron of Atlanta, Ga., Teiara Parker of Florida, and Jalona Cameron of Alaska; nephews, Izavia Parker, Orenthal Cameron, Isiah Parker and Tarron Parker, all of Alaska, and Ladrekus Burfford of Ohio and Eric Hunter of Virginia; and many family, extended family and friends who loved her dearly: Cassandra Settles, Kaisianna Robinson-Evans and Maria Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Earlene Parker; and brothers-in-law, Orenthal Cameron Sr. and Naron Celestine.
