Laurence Ronald Merculief Sr., 53, passed to his death peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
Ron was born on St. George Island, Alaska, on April 26, 1964. His mom is MaryLou Merculief of St. Paul Island, Alaska, and his dad was Alexay "Atha" Merculief Sr. (Aug. 4, 1924 - June 17, 2008, age 83).
Ron loved the outdoors and working with his hands, fixing vehicles, houses, buildings: construction in general. He liked to hunt, fish and was considered a jack-of-all-trades kind of man. He was kind and shy, loved to laugh, tell stories, watch movies and travel, but most of all loved his family and his only son. Ron met Carolyn Nuglene and they have a son, Laurence Ronald Merculief Jr., 23, whom both reside in Seattle, Wash.
Ron is survived by his mom, Mary Lou Merculief of St. Paul Island; his sister, Janet Bourdukofsky of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Jacob Merculief of St. Paul Island; sister, Serafima Merculief of St. Paul, Island; sister, Joann Salenski of Sitka, Alaska; brother, Alexay Jr. and Katherine Merculief; sister, Patricia Merculief-Booth of Anchorage; and brother, Michael Chercasen of St. George Island. He was preceded in death by his dad, Alexay J. "Atha" Merculief Sr.; and his brother, Stefan Merculief.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
