Early Life: Michalla J. Beardall was born July 1, 1994, to Richard J. Beardall and Teri Jennings Beardall Call in Orem, Utah. Her dad always said she was the prettiest baby. Michalla grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated with honors from PGHS in 2012. She was active in choir, swim team and Seminary Council. During her senior year of high school, Michalla attended the Forum Hair Academy. She had a natural ability for all things artistic which showed in her hair and nail designs. She loved serving those that cared for her at Primary Children's Hospital with one of a kind nail designs. Michalla worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Pleasant Grove Pool and filled her family's sweet tooth with her jobs at both Cold Stone Creamery and Smart Cookie.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Shortly after graduation, Michalla was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia or AML. After a six month fight in the hospital, her cancer was put into remission in January 2013. Michalla spent the next year preparing to serve an LDS mission, having fun with family and friends and finishing hair school. She served as a Primary teacher and Gospel Principles Instructor in her church. Michalla received an LDS mission call to Knoxville, Tennessee. Having wanted to serve a mission since she was a little girl, Michalla was ecstatic. However, two days before her mission farewell, her cancer relapsed. Instead of entering the MTC, Michalla entered Primary Children's Hospital in January 2014, for more chemo treatments and a bone marrow transplant. Michalla made the most of her new mission by being an inspiration to those around her in the hospital. She was a role model to the children in her oncology unit. She had many penpals and she taught them to be brave and that being bald was cool. She will be missed by many children still fighting the battle against cancer. After witnessing many miracles, Michalla's battle against leukemia ended on Father's Day, June 15, 2014. Michalla was allowed to leave her earthly father and return to her Heavenly Father, where she was met with open arms for living an obedient, Christ-centered life. Her lifelong dream of serving a mission and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ is now continuing on the other side of the veil.
Family Message: "The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Primary Childrens for their years of caring for Michalla. They are considered friends and family. They would also like to thank family, ward and community members for the overwhelming show of love and support. When asked one week before passing away if there was anything Michalla would like to say to everyone she said, '"Thank you. What else can I say, but Thank you."' You will be greatly missed Michalla."
