Christine Lynn Munch, after a fierce and valiant battle with cancer, died on June 27, 2018.
Chris was born May 19, 1955 in Astoria, Oregon to Donald and Alberta Forquer. The happy middle, Chris had two older sisters - Vikki (Phil) and Debbie (Alan) and two younger brothers John (Carolyn) and Dana(Sarena). They grew up playing along the shores of Penn Cove on Whidbey Island after moving there in 1963. She remained in the Pacific Northwest her entire life.
Christine is also survived by her two dear children, her son Whitney (Tara) and her daughter, Shannon (Shane) and her two grandchildren.
After raising her kids in Bellingham, WA she met her loving husband of 18 years, Jim "Munch", who brought her 3 step children Tyler (Jennifer), Tara (Carsten), and Kelsey and 4 grandchildren, and settled in beautiful Anacortes, WA in 2003 where they started a still-thriving engineering consulting business together.
Her joy and warmth wrapped all those who were lucky enough to meet her. She lit up the room and sparkled when she smiled. Widely reported to give the best hugs, she had the rare talent of making each and every person she knew feel incredibly special. She made everything she touched beautiful. She cooked with great love and without abandon, her garden stopped hikers (and deer) in their tracks, and the sound of her singing at the piano will echo sweetly in the hearts of her lucky audiences. More than anything, she touched so many with her watercolors, a love that she graciously shared far and wide. Her artistry was joyful, playful, and simply lovely.
Her friendship net was cast wide along the banks of the Pacific and across the world, but her friends and family always felt loved deeply and honestly. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed magical childhoods with her at the helm bringing laughter, surprises, beauty, and fun. "Oh, happy day!" was her motto.
She loved where she lived, at least once a day saying, "look where we live!" She lived in harmony with all things beautiful. She treasured her friends and family above all else. She adventured often with her dear friends, walking Washington Park, rowing with a team around the islands, and hiking Mt. Erie.
She leaves us all the great gifts of who she was and hopes we use them without abandon. Her last advice to her grandkids, Oliver and Amelia, was to be kind and practice great empathy, something she embodied with every cell of her being.
She was a passionate volunteer with the Soroptimist International of Anacortes, a group of similar positive minded women who are dedicated to make the community a better place for everyone. She requested that you consider sending donations to the Soroptimist International of Anacortes Scholarship Fund.
Her family would also ask that you consider a contribution to cancer research, especially in the area of Gastric and Esophageal (gastriccancer.org).
There will be a Public Memorial Service Celebrating Christine's wonderful life at the Cabana Beach Club located in Skyline, Anacortes, WA on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes, WA.
