Officials say a body found Sunday morning in a small ravine off Parker Road is believed to be that of missing man Jeremy Filowiat.

Investigators were continuing to search for the 24-year-old Landrum man after officers recovered his 2006 Jeep on Saturday, August 4, in an area off of Parker Road, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller.

Sheriff Mueller said they had contacted SCSARDA (South Carolina Search and Rescue Dog Association) to bring in cadaver dogs to assist with the search.

The search started at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. A body was located about an hour later.

The Cherokee County coroner says a wallet found with the body contained Jeremy Lee Filowiat's identification.

Dental records will be used to confirm the identity.

An autopsy will be performed to help determine the cause and manner of death.

Officials previously searched the area on August 4 and August 5 with no success, according to the sheriff.
