Police have identified a woman they say was found dead in Mammoth Cave National Park as 23-year-old Mariah Amber Decru of Park City.

Federal authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead in Mammoth Cave National Park.

Gray affiliate WBKO reports The National Park Service and the FBI are investigating the death.

"Park service staff arrived on scene and we contacted the FBI to assist us with the investigation. They are currently in the park and looking at the incident," Molly Schroer with Mammoth Cave National Park told WBKO.

The body was found Monday morning in Barren County. Volunteer firefighters alerted park rangers around 10 a.m. after a witness found the body. The victim is described as a white woman in her 20s.

The FBI has tweeted that the death is considered "suspicious."
