Janice Scully Realy, 69, died, Wednesday, February 20, 2019, peacefully in her Exeter home surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Born November 26, 1949 in Glencove, N.Y., to First Lieutenant Pauline Scully Realy (Conklin) and Technical Sergeant Robert John Realy, both World War II veterans.
Janice spent most of her childhood in Exeter; she was a graduate of St. Michael's School and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Nashua. Janice earned her B.A. in communication disorders from the University of New Hampshire, and a M.Ed. in audiology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was a compassionate and loving daughter, sister, niece, and aunt. She was a true friend to all.
Much of her professional career was spent in Virginia as a practicing audiologist, working with a broad range of people, from the elderly to school children. Her love of people drew her to the Boars Head Inn in Charlottesville to double as a waitress where she made many lifelong friends. On returning to the northeast, she continued her work in audiology in Lewiston, Maine. She also worked in speech therapy for the Portsmouth and Epping School Districts.
Janice was loved by so many for her adventurous nature and outgoing personality. Her hobbies included downhill skiing, going to the beach, gardening, crafts and photography. Janice was also a musician, world traveler, and communicant of St. Michael Church in Exeter.
Her greatest love was for her extended family of over thirty cousins, and her beloved nieces and nephew. She is survived by her brother, Robert Realy; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin Conklin and Leelee Conklin; brother, Thomas Conklin; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Conklin Blenk and Michael Blenk; sister and brother-in-law, Carrie Conklin-Berry and Jay Berry; nephew, Ryan Blenk; and three nieces, Elizabeth Scully Blenk, Katie Conklin, and Lizzie Conklin; many family and innumerable friends.
