The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has released the name of the woman killed in an early morning crash on Moffett Road in Semmes.

ALEA says 49-year-old Sonya Denise Jones was driving on Moffett Road when her 2011 Buick Enclave was hit head-on by a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. Troopers say Jones was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say the driver of the Chrysler is a 17-year-old male and was taken to the hospital with injuries.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash at this time, troopers report.

UPDATE: MCSO confirms one woman was killed in an early morning crash on Moffett Road in Semmes. It happened near the intersection of Oak HIll Road. Two SUVs collided head-on before 7am Monday morning. No word yet on what led to the crash or how many others may have been hurt. Eastbound traffic was shifted to the westbound lanes so deputies and troopers could work safely at the crash scene. The crash caused heavy delays on 98 during the height of the morning commute.
