Authorities have identified the victim of a shooting on Springfield's north side Sunday.

The victim is Reginald A. "Reggie" Swope, 32, of Springfield, according to Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards.

The preliminary cause of death is from multiple gunshot wounds and is consistent with a homicide, according to a release issued by Edwards' office on Monday afternoon.

Swope was found dead in the driver's seat of a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of North 14th Street, just off East Division Street around 7:15 a.m. Sunday.

Swope lived on the block and a makeshift memorial to him could be seen Monday.

Blood tests and histology are still pending from the autopsy, according to Edwards.

The incident happened around 5 a.m., according to Springfield police Lt. Brian Oakes.

Oakes, reached via email Monday, said there was nothing further to report on in the case.

It is the city's fourth homicide in 2019.
