Officials have identified a driver who died Saturday after her vehicle hit a light pole, then hit a trailer and caught fire.

Tayva A. Steele, 33, was southbound on I-15 in her Dodge pickup truck, and at approximately 1:30 a.m., while entering an off-ramp, she veered off the roadway to the right side and hit a light pole, according to a statement by Utah Highway Patrol officials.

Steele's car continued driving in the same direction and entered what officials described as a "large open area that is currently being prepped for construction." Her truck drove forward for several hundred feet before crashing into the side of a semitrailer, officials said. Steele's truck then caught fire, and she suffered fatal injuries.

The incident is being investigated to determine whether excessive speed and a possible medical condition were factors in the crash, officials said.
