Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood confirmed Monday a body found in Canastota this weekend was 19-year-old Elizabeth Garrow, who was missing since Wednesday.

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office determined Garrow's cause of death was homicide, Hood said. She was stabbed multiple times, he said at a news conference in Wampsville.

Investigators believe Garrow died Wednesday, the day she went missing. She was last seen at the Dunkin' in Canastota with her husband, George McDonald Jr.

McDonald, who is in jail on a probation violation, is a "person of interest" in the case, the sheriff said. Investigators have spoken with McDonald about the case and the 24-year-old has invoked his right to remain silent, Hood said.

The sheriff and district attorney's office declined to provide complete details of the investigation at this time, noting it was very active. The sheriff's office has led a nearly 100-person search crew across Madison and parts of Onondaga County in recent days.
