A woman was killed and a toddler was injured in a crash Monday evening in the East Hollywood area.

The crash happened around 9:25 p.m. on 101 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai Accent was traveling north on the freeway when it lost control and slammed into a wall along the right shoulder. It then drove onto an off-ramp embankment before crashing through a fence and landing back on the freeway.

As a result, the female driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities later identified her as 23-year-old Arin Pugh.

Pugh's 2-year-old son was taken to Children?s Hospital Los Angeles with a head injury, the CHP said.
